Reflection

To create the alternate versions of my resume, I used AI to reframe my experiences for different industries. I started by giving AI my original resume and used prompts such as: “Rewrite my resume for a Finance/Business Analysis role. Emphasize analytical skills, accuracy, time management, and customer interaction.” After that, I created a second version using the prompt: “Rewrite my resume for a Government/Public Service role. Highlight safety, supervision, teamwork, communication, and responsibility.”

These prompts helped the AI understand what each field values most. In the finance-focused resume, the tone shifted toward organization, accuracy, efficiency, and operational awareness. In the government-focused version, the emphasis moved to public service, leadership, safety, and communication. The interesting part is that the job history stayed the same — only the framing changed.

This process showed me how powerful prompt engineering can be. A small change in a prompt can shift the tone, emphasis, and interpretation of the same experiences. It helped me understand how important it is to tailor your communication to the audience you’re trying to reach and how AI can support that process.
